How Old Do Children Need to Be?
There is no strict minimum age for snorkeling with Kefi Divers, but we recommend children are comfortable in the water and able to follow simple instructions before joining a trip.
For younger children, a parent or guardian should be in the water with them at all times. Our team will always assess comfort levels before and during the trip — no child is ever pushed beyond what they're ready for.
If your child is 10 or older and wants to try scuba diving rather than snorkeling, our Discover Scuba Diving experience is available from age 10, with a maximum of 2 students per instructor.
Do Children Need to Be Strong Swimmers?
No — but they should be comfortable in the water. Full swimming ability isn't required for snorkeling, and flotation vests are available for anyone who wants extra security and confidence in the water.
Our guides stay close to the group throughout the trip, and no one is left to manage on their own. If a child feels unsure at any point, we slow down, reassure, and adjust.
What Equipment Do Children Use?
All snorkeling equipment is provided and included in the price — there's nothing extra to hire or bring. This includes:

How Deep Is the Water?
Snorkeling takes place at the surface — you're floating and looking down, not diving deep. The underwater world around Almyrida is visible from just below the surface, so there's no need to go deep to see something spectacular.
The northern Cretan coastline has excellent visibility (regularly 20–25 metres), meaning children can see clearly into the water beneath them without needing to submerge at all.
