Explore Chania's most spectacular dive sites with a two dive boat trip, from the world famous Elephant Cave to dramatic walls, historic wrecks and thriving Mediterranean reefs.
Half day
Join us for a two dive boat trip and discover some of the most remarkable dive sites that Crete has to offer. Travelling by boat allows us to reach locations that are inaccessible from shore, opening the door to a wide variety of underwater landscapes and unforgettable diving experiences. Every trip includes two dives at two different dive sites, carefully selected each day according to the weather, sea conditions and visibility. Depending on the conditions and your certification level, your itinerary may include the world famous Elephant Cave, dramatic underwater walls, historic wrecks, rocky reefs or unique marine habitats that showcase the incredible diversity of diving in Chania. Our experienced local guides know these dive sites inside and out and will help you get the most from every dive. Whether you're interested in marine life, underwater photography, geology or simply exploring new places, we'll tailor the experience to suit your interests while ensuring a safe, relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the day. Crete's waters are home to a fascinating variety of Mediterranean marine life, and each dive offers the opportunity to encounter species such as groupers, barracuda, moray eels, octopus, nudibranchs, sea bream and many others. We enjoy sharing our knowledge of the local marine environment, helping you identify the wildlife you encounter and better understand the ecosystems that make these dive sites so special. At Kefi Divers, we keep our groups small to provide a more personal experience both above and below the surface. More Than Just a Boat Dive
Travelling by boat gives us the flexibility to choose the best dive sites each day rather than following a fixed schedule. This allows us to make the most of the weather, sea conditions and visibility while offering a wider variety of dive experiences throughout your stay. From the world famous Elephant Cave to wrecks, walls and reefs rich in Mediterranean marine life, every boat trip offers something different and provides a unique opportunity to discover the underwater world of Crete.
Shore Dives
Discover one of Chania's most beautiful shore dives, where crystal clear water, dramatic underwater landscapes and thriving Mediterranean marine life combine to create an unforgettable diving experience.
3-4 hours
Join us for a guided shore dive at Koutalas, one of our favourite dive sites and, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful shore dives in Chania. With crystal clear water, excellent visibility and a diverse underwater landscape, it's the perfect location for certified divers looking to experience the best of Crete's coastline. The site offers a combination of rocky reefs, dramatic underwater walls and fascinating rock formations that provide a home for an abundance of Mediterranean marine life. As you explore, you may encounter octopus, moray eels, groupers, scorpionfish, nudibranchs, sea bream and many other species that thrive along this protected stretch of coastline. At Kefi Divers, we don't believe in taking divers somewhere different just for the sake of variety. We choose Koutalas because it consistently provides exceptional diving and offers something new to discover on every visit. Whether you're interested in underwater photography, improving your buoyancy or simply enjoying a relaxed dive, our experienced local guides will help you get the most from every descent. When conditions make Koutalas unsuitable, we head to our alternative shore dive site at Kalami, another fantastic location known for its clear water, unique underwater features and rich marine life. With small groups and a personalised approach, every shore dive is planned around your experience level and the day's conditions, ensuring a safe, enjoyable and memorable dive from start to finish.

More Than Just a Shore Dive
Returning to the same dive site doesn't mean repeating the same dive. Marine life changes with the seasons, visibility varies from day to day and every dive reveals something new. Our local knowledge allows us to slow down, explore the finer details and help you discover the wildlife and hidden features that many divers swim straight past.
Night Dive
Discover a completely different side of scuba diving on a night dive at Koutalas, where nocturnal marine life comes to life and dark nights can reveal the magic of bioluminescence.
2-3 hours
Experience the underwater world after dark with a Night Dive at Koutalas, one of our favourite shore diving locations in Chania. As daylight disappears, the underwater environment changes completely. Familiar surroundings take on a different atmosphere as nocturnal creatures become active, while other marine life settles into its nighttime routine. Even if you've dived Koutalas during the day, exploring the same site after dark can feel like a completely different experience. Before entering the water, your instructor will give you a full briefing covering everything you need to know for a night dive, including communication, equipment, navigation and the techniques you'll use to explore safely and comfortably after sunset. Once you're underwater, you'll explore Koutalas by torchlight, taking your time to look for the marine life that emerges after dark. Keep an eye out for octopus, moray eels, cuttlefish and other nocturnal creatures that can be difficult to spot during a daytime dive. On a dark, moonless night, there is also a chance of encountering bioluminescence, when tiny marine organisms create flashes of light in the water around you. It's never guaranteed, but when conditions are right, it can be an unforgettable part of the dive. Our Night Dive is available to certified divers of all experience levels. Whether it's your first night dive or you've experienced diving after dark many times before, we'll make sure you know what to expect and feel comfortable before entering the water.

A Different Side of Koutalas
Night diving isn't simply daytime diving with a torch. The darkness changes the environment, the atmosphere and the marine life you'll encounter. By slowing down and focusing your torch on the reef, you'll start to notice creatures and details that you might easily overlook during the day. It's a chance to experience one of our favourite dive sites in a completely new way.

Refresher Dive
Get comfortable underwater again with a personalised scuba refresher, combining targeted skills practice in the sea with a relaxed open water dive.
Haven't been diving for a while, or simply want to rebuild your confidence with particular scuba skills? Our Scuba Refresher Dive is designed to help you get comfortable underwater again without committing to a full ReActivate programme. Unlike PADI ReActivate, which includes eLearning and a structured skills session in the swimming pool, our Refresher Dive takes you straight into the sea. Before entering the water, you'll have time with your instructor to prepare your equipment and discuss any skills or aspects of diving you'd like to revisit. Whether you want to work on your buoyancy, practise mask or regulator skills, improve your underwater positioning or simply regain your comfort in the water, we'll focus the session around what you personally need. Once in the water, your instructor will guide you through the specific skills you've chosen to practise. There's no need to work through every scuba skill if you don't need to. The aim is to concentrate on the areas that will make you feel more comfortable and confident. After your skills review, you'll continue with a normal recreational open water dive, giving you the opportunity to put everything into practice while enjoying a relaxed dive in the beautiful waters of Crete. At Kefi Divers, we keep our groups small and take a personalised approach to every refresher. We don't expect you to remember everything perfectly. Our goal is to give you the time, support and practical experience you need to feel comfortable underwater again. Whether you've been away from diving for several years or you're a certified diver who simply doesn't feel completely confident with a particular skill, a Refresher Dive can be a great way to get back into the water.

Refresher Dive or PADI ReActivate?
Not sure which option is right for you? Choose a Scuba Refresher Dive if you want to go directly into the sea and focus on the specific skills you'd like to practise, followed by a normal recreational dive. Choose PADI ReActivate if you'd prefer a more comprehensive review, including PADI eLearning and a structured skills session in the swimming pool where we generally work through the full range of scuba skills again. If you're unsure which option is best for you, get in touch and we'll help you choose the right one for your experience and confidence level.

Elephant Cave
Dive one of Crete's most legendary dive sites and explore a 150 metre sea cave filled with ancient formations and fossilised elephant remains.
Discover the Elephant Cave, Kefi Divers' flagship dive site and one of the most renowned dive sites in Crete. Even PADI describes it as probably the best dive site Crete has to offer. Located along the spectacular coastline near Chania, the Elephant Cave is a 150 metre-long sea cave filled with ancient stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the fossilised remains of an extinct dwarf elephant that once lived on Crete. We depart from Almyrida, the closest harbour to the Elephant Cave, giving you a shorter journey to the site and more time to enjoy the experience. The experience always includes two dives. The first is at Lighthouse Wall, followed by the main event, the Elephant Cave. For the cave dive, we enter the water and descend towards the cave entrance, which ranges from approximately 4 to 9 metres deep. We enter the cave at around 8 metres and begin exploring its full length. Inside, you'll swim through the underwater passage surrounded by spectacular rock formations, stalactites and stalagmites. Along the way, you'll see the fossilised elephant remains beneath the water before continuing deeper into the cave. At the end, you'll surface inside the cave's natural air chamber. Here, you can take in the impressive formations surrounding you and see the fossilised remains again, this time from above the water.

A Cave With a Story
The Elephant Cave isn't just a remarkable dive site. It also has a special connection to our team at Kefi Divers. Sotiris, our co-owner and boat captain, has a family connection to the cave. His uncle was the first diver to enter the Elephant Cave in 1999. Today, we're proud to share this incredible site with divers visiting Crete. At Kefi Divers, we know the Elephant Cave well and take our time to make the experience enjoyable and memorable. Our small groups allow us to give you a more personal experience as we explore one of Crete's most fascinating underwater environments. Want to discover more about the cave? We go into more detail about its history, geology, fossilised remains and the story behind this remarkable site.

ReActivate
Bring your scuba knowledge and skills up to date with PADI ReActivate, including eLearning and a personalised pool session to help you feel confident before returning to the sea.
Haven't been diving for a while and want to get your knowledge and skills back up to standard before returning to the sea? PADI ReActivate is designed to help certified divers review their scuba knowledge and practise their diving skills before getting back into open water diving. The program begins with PADI ReActivate eLearning, giving you the opportunity to review important diving knowledge at your own pace. You'll revisit key concepts from your previous training, helping you refresh your understanding of safe diving practices before your practical session. Once you've completed the eLearning, you'll meet your instructor for the practical part of the program. At Kefi Divers, we conduct the practical skills session in the swimming pool, providing a calm and controlled environment where you can take your time and work through the essential scuba skills again. We generally go through the full range of essential scuba skills, including equipment setup and use, buoyancy control, mask skills, regulator skills, emergency procedures and other techniques from your previous scuba training. Your instructor will guide you through each skill and give you the opportunity to practise until you feel comfortable and confident again. At Kefi Divers, we keep the experience relaxed and personalised. Every diver has a different level of experience and may have been away from diving for a different amount of time, so we'll take the time to identify anything that needs extra attention and make sure you feel comfortable before returning to the sea.

ReActivate or a Refresher Dive?
Not sure which option is right for you? PADI ReActivate is the more comprehensive option, combining PADI eLearning with a structured pool based skills session. It's ideal if you want to systematically review your diving knowledge and practise your scuba skills in a controlled environment before returning to open water. Our Scuba Refresher Dive is a simpler option for certified divers who are comfortable with their knowledge and equipment but would like to practise their skills before going straight into an open water dive. If you're unsure which option is right for you, get in touch and we'll help you choose the best option for your experience and needs.

PADI Course
2 days
Want to become a certified scuba diver but don't have enough time to complete the full Open Water Diver Course? The PADI Scuba Diver Course offers a shorter route to certification while giving you the essential knowledge and skills you need to begin your diving journey. Your course starts with PADI eLearning, which is provided as soon as you sign up. You can complete the theory at your own pace before arriving at Kefi Divers, giving you more time to focus on your practical training once you're here. Your practical training is split across two half days. You'll first spend a half day in the swimming pool, where you'll learn and practise the essential scuba skills in a controlled environment. This gives you time to become comfortable with your equipment, your buoyancy and breathing underwater while working closely with your instructor. On a separate half day, you'll complete two open water dives, putting the skills you've learnt into practice in the beautiful waters of Crete. Your instructor will guide you throughout the dives, helping you build confidence while gaining real experience in the sea. The PADI Scuba Diver certification allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 12 metres under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional. This makes it a genuine scuba diving certification while providing a shorter training route for people who don't have the time to complete the full Open Water Diver Course. At Kefi Divers, we keep our courses small and personalise your training to suit your experience, learning style and pace. We want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout the process rather than feeling rushed through the requirements of the course. Your Scuba Diver certification can also be upgraded to the PADI Open Water Diver certification in the future. You won't need to start again from the beginning. You'll continue your training from where you left off and develop the additional knowledge and skills required for the full certification.

Open Water Course (PADI)
Learn to scuba dive and become a fully certified PADI Open Water Diver with personalised training and small groups in the beautiful waters of Crete.
3 days
Ready to learn to scuba dive? The PADI Open Water Diver Course is your first step towards becoming a fully certified scuba diver, giving you the knowledge, skills and confidence to explore the underwater world. Your course starts with PADI eLearning, provided as soon as you sign up. You can complete the theory at your own pace before your practical training begins, giving you more time to concentrate on developing your diving skills once you're in the water. Your practical training takes place over three half days. You'll begin with a half day in the swimming pool, where you'll learn and practise the essential scuba skills in a controlled environment. This gives you the opportunity to become comfortable with your equipment, buoyancy and breathing underwater before progressing to the sea. You'll then complete four open water training dives over two further half days. With your instructor alongside you, you'll put your pool skills into practice while learning how to manage yourself and your equipment in real diving conditions. At Kefi Divers, we keep our course groups small and personalise your training to suit your experience, learning style and pace. Everyone learns differently, so we take the time to make sure you understand each skill and feel comfortable before moving on to the next one. Throughout the course, you'll develop the fundamental skills needed to become a confident diver, including buoyancy control, underwater communication, equipment use, dive planning and safe diving practices. Once you successfully complete the course, you'll receive your PADI Open Water Diver certification, allowing you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 metres independently. Your course includes all scuba diving equipment and certification costs, so you can concentrate on learning and enjoying the experience without having to arrange your own diving equipment.

Learning to scuba dive is about much more than completing a series of skills and receiving a certification card. It's about becoming comfortable underwater, understanding your equipment and developing the confidence to enjoy diving. At Kefi Divers, our small groups and personalised approach allow us to give you the attention you need throughout your training. We'll help you build a strong foundation as a diver while making sure you enjoy the experience along the way. By the end of your course, you'll have the skills and knowledge to continue your diving journey around the world as a certified PADI Open Water Diver.
Advanced Open Water Course (PADI)
Build your confidence, develop new diving skills and qualify to dive to 30 metres with the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.
2-3 days
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course is designed to help you become a more confident, capable and comfortable diver through practical experience. Whether you've recently completed your Open Water certification or already have a few dives under your belt, this course is the perfect next step in your diving journey. Through five Adventure Dives, you'll develop new skills while gaining valuable experience in a variety of diving situations. The course includes Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation, along with three additional Adventure Dives that we personalise to your interests, experience and goals. Depending on your preferences, you may choose dives such as Peak Performance Buoyancy, Night Diving, Search and Recovery, Boat Diving or Fish Identification. Rather than spending hours in a classroom, you'll learn by diving. As your confidence grows, you'll discover how familiar dive sites can offer completely different experiences. You'll refine your buoyancy, improve your underwater navigation, experience greater depths and develop techniques that will benefit every dive you make in the future. As your buoyancy, trim and overall diving technique improve, many divers naturally become more relaxed underwater. This often leads to improved air consumption, allowing you to stay underwater longer and enjoy your dives even more. At Kefi Divers, we keep our course groups small to provide personalised instruction and plenty of time to develop each skill at your own pace. Every diver learns differently, so we adapt our teaching to suit your learning style, ensuring you finish the course feeling confident, comfortable and ready for your next adventure. On successful completion of the course, you'll be certified to dive to a maximum depth of 30 metres, opening the door to a wider range of dive sites and underwater experiences around the world.

Advance Your Diving
More Than Just an Advanced Course
The Advanced Open Water Diver Course isn't about becoming an advanced diver overnight. It's about gaining experience, building confidence and becoming more comfortable underwater. Every Adventure Dive helps you become a more capable diver while developing skills you'll continue to use throughout your diving journey. Our goal isn't simply to certify you. It's to help you become a confident diver who feels comfortable exploring the underwater world and enjoys every dive for years to come.
Deep Diver
Build the skills and confidence to dive deeper, opening up new opportunities to explore the underwater world down to 40 metres.
PADI Specialty Course
Ready to explore what lies beyond your usual diving depth? The PADI Deep Diver Specialty is designed to help you develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to safely explore deeper underwater environments. Your course starts with PADI eLearning, provided as soon as you sign up, allowing you to complete the theory at your own pace before your practical training. For divers who already hold their PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification, the course includes three open water dives with your instructor. The dives are tailored to your experience and the skills you want to develop, with the location depending on the day's activities. As you progress deeper, you'll learn how factors such as depth, pressure and gas consumption affect your dive. You'll develop techniques for planning and managing deeper dives while becoming more comfortable and confident at greater depths. The PADI Deep Diver certification qualifies you to dive to a maximum depth of 40 metres, opening up access to deeper dive sites and experiences that aren't available to divers with shallower depth limits. At Kefi Divers, we keep our groups small and take a personalised approach to your training. We'll help you build the skills and confidence you need to become a more capable deep diver, while making the most of the diving opportunities available around Chania.

Explore More of the Underwater World
Going deeper opens up a different side of scuba diving. Deeper walls, wrecks and other underwater features can offer experiences that simply aren't accessible within shallower depth limits. The Deep Diver Specialty gives you the opportunity to develop your skills and confidence while expanding the range of diving you can experience as a certified diver. Whether you want to explore deeper dive sites in Crete or simply become a more capable and confident diver, we'll tailor your training around your goals.

Peak Performance Buoyancy
Improve your buoyancy, trim and breathing while learning to move more efficiently underwater, use less air and enjoy longer, more relaxed dives.
The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty is designed to help you become more comfortable, controlled and efficient underwater. Your course starts with PADI eLearning, allowing you to work through the theory at your own pace before your practical training. You'll then complete two dives with your instructor, focusing on the areas of buoyancy and diving technique that you personally want to improve. We can work on everything from weighting and trim to breathing, fin technique, body position and overall control in the water. Better buoyancy isn't just about looking more streamlined underwater. When you're properly weighted and in control of your position, you'll use less energy and air, move more efficiently and spend more time enjoying the dive. Good buoyancy also helps you avoid unnecessary contact with the seabed and marine life, making you a more environmentally responsible diver. Your instructor will work with you throughout the dives, helping you identify areas for improvement and giving you practical techniques that you can continue using on every dive afterwards. The dives may take place at Koutalas or from the boat, depending on the day's activities, giving you the opportunity to work on your skills in real diving conditions. Whether you want to improve your air consumption, fine tune your trim, become more comfortable hovering or simply feel more relaxed and controlled underwater, we'll tailor the specialty around what you want to achieve. What You'll Improve With Peak Performance Buoyancy, you can work on weighting and buoyancy control, trim and body position, breathing techniques, fin and movement technique, air consumption, efficient movement underwater, maintaining a comfortable position without unnecessary effort, and reducing contact with the seabed and marine life. Better buoyancy means more relaxed dives, better air consumption and more time enjoying the underwater world.

Night Diver
Develop the skills and confidence to explore underwater after dark with the PADI Night Diver Specialty.
3 evenings
The PADI Night Diver Specialty teaches you the skills and techniques needed to become a confident night diver and approach future dives after dark with greater independence. Your course starts with PADI eLearning, provided as soon as you sign up, allowing you to complete the theory at your own pace before your practical training. You'll then complete three night dives, generally from the shore at Koutalas. The location can vary depending on the weather and your preferences. During the specialty, you'll develop your proficiency with torch techniques, light signals, communication, night navigation and maintaining your orientation underwater after dark. You'll also learn how to adapt your normal diving techniques to the nighttime environment, including entering and exiting the water safely after sunset. Alongside developing your night diving skills, you'll have the opportunity to observe nocturnal marine life and see how the underwater environment changes after dark. On a sufficiently dark night, there is also a chance to experience bioluminescence, with tiny organisms creating flashes of light in the water around you. At Kefi Divers, we keep our groups small and provide personalised instruction throughout the specialty, giving you the opportunity to practise your skills and become comfortable with night diving.

Search & Recovery Diver
Learn how to plan and carry out underwater searches, use different search patterns and recover suitable objects using a lift bag with the PADI Search and Recovery Specialty.
Want to develop your ability to find and recover objects underwater? The PADI Search and Recovery Specialty teaches you practical skills for planning and carrying out systematic underwater searches, helping you become more confident when looking for objects that have been lost underwater. Your course starts with PADI eLearning, provided as soon as you sign up, allowing you to complete the theory at your own pace before your practical training. The course is available to divers with a minimum PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification. You'll complete three or four open water dives, depending on your previous training. If you completed the Search and Recovery Adventure Dive as part of your Advanced Open Water course, you'll complete three additional dives. If you did not, you'll complete all four specialty dives. The dives may take place from the shore or boat, depending on the day's activities, giving you the opportunity to develop your search and recovery skills in real diving conditions. During the specialty, you'll learn and practise different underwater search patterns, helping you choose an appropriate method for locating objects underwater rather than relying on chance. You'll also learn how to plan a search, estimate distances and work systematically to cover an area effectively. You'll develop practical skills for recovering suitable objects, including learning how to use a lift bag to bring an object towards the surface in a controlled manner.

Practical Skills for Real Diving
Search and Recovery is a useful specialty for any diver who wants to become more capable underwater. Objects can be lost underwater for all sorts of reasons, from dropped equipment to items accidentally falling overboard. Knowing how to conduct a systematic search means you can approach these situations methodically rather than simply swimming around hoping to find what you're looking for. You'll develop the ability to choose and carry out appropriate search patterns, locate objects and use recovery techniques that can be applied to future dives. At Kefi Divers, we keep our groups small and tailor your training to your experience and goals, giving you the opportunity to practise the skills properly and build confidence throughout the course.
Underwater Navigator
Improve your underwater navigation skills, developing your proficiency with compass and natural navigation while becoming more confident and independent underwater.
1-2 days
Want to feel more confident navigating underwater? The PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty helps you develop greater accuracy and confidence with your underwater navigation skills. Your course starts with PADI eLearning, provided as soon as you sign up, allowing you to complete the theory at your own pace before your practical training. You'll then complete two or three open water dives, depending on your current certification. If you're a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, your Advanced Open Water course already included the first Underwater Navigation dive, so you'll complete two additional dives to finish the specialty. If you're a PADI Open Water Diver, you'll complete all three specialty dives. The dives may take place from the shore or boat, depending on the day's activities, giving you the opportunity to practise your navigation skills in real diving conditions. You'll develop and refine your underwater navigation skills, improving your proficiency with compass navigation, natural navigation and estimating distances underwater. You'll practise navigating towards specific underwater points and finding your way back to your starting point, helping you become more accurate and confident with your navigation. Good navigation isn't just about knowing which direction you're travelling. It helps you plan your dives more effectively, find the areas you want to explore and make better use of your time underwater. At Kefi Divers, we keep our groups small and tailor your training to your experience and goals. We'll give you plenty of opportunity to practise and refine your navigation skills, helping you become more comfortable and confident navigating underwater.

Being able to navigate confidently can change the way you experience a dive. Instead of relying entirely on someone else to show you where to go, you'll have a better understanding of where you are, where you've been and where you want to go. Whether you want to improve your compass proficiency, become better at natural navigation, improve your distance estimation or simply feel more confident finding your way underwater, the Underwater Navigator Specialty gives you practical skills that you can use on future dives.
Boat Diver
Build your confidence and skills when diving from a boat, from safe entries and exits to boat procedures, equipment setup and deploying an SMB from underwater.
1 day
Want to become more confident diving from a boat? The PADI Boat Diver Specialty teaches you the skills and knowledge you need to feel comfortable and capable when diving from different types of boats. Your course starts with PADI eLearning, provided as soon as you sign up, allowing you to complete the theory at your own pace before your practical training. You'll then complete two open water dives, putting what you've learned into practice while diving from a boat. You'll learn about boat terminology, safety and emergency equipment, boating etiquette and basic nautical rules, as well as how to organise and secure your diving equipment on board. You'll also learn how to keep the boat deck organised and reduce potential hazards while preparing for your dive. During your dives, you'll practise safe and controlled boat entries, adapting your entry technique to the boat you're diving from. You'll also learn how to safely manage your equipment when returning to the boat and exiting the water. You'll develop your understanding of boat positioning and surface lines, practise controlled ascents using a reference line and complete your safety stop before returning to the surface. An important part of the specialty is learning to deploy an SMB from underwater, giving you another useful skill for communicating your position to the boat and managing your ascent. At Kefi Divers, we keep our groups small and give you the opportunity to practise these skills properly with your instructor. The aim is to make you more comfortable and confident with the practical aspects of boat diving, so you can approach future boat dives with greater independence.
